underneath a palm tree
watching the lines in her legs
meld and dissolve.
The heat had bent her like wax,
and she enjoyed the wondrous sensation
of her own softness
while imagining
the beautiful beings she would become.
But first she must endure
the dark and solitary
dreamless stage,
encased, confined,
but not forgotten. 
Y eternally patient
for the life that would break
and free her
to spread her wings
and fly.
